Dryer vents
Dryer taking longer than usual? What to check before booking
A load that used to finish in one cycle now needs another. It is a useful reason to ask questions, but it does not identify the cause by itself. Before booking dryer vent cleaning, gather a few details about the appliance, the vent route and what has changed.

Check the lint screen and your manual
Follow the dryer’s instructions for cleaning the removable lint screen. The U.S. Fire Administration advises cleaning it before and after each cycle and using the dryer with its filter in place.
The screen is only one part of the route. Lint can also collect in the exhaust system, and damaged or restricted venting needs attention. Do not pull a stacked dryer out, disconnect gas or electrical connections, or dismantle the duct just to investigate for a quote.
Describe the change you actually notice
Note whether the longer drying happens with every load or only certain items. Include the selected cycle, any error message and whether this started suddenly or gradually. Give the make and model if you can read them without moving the appliance.
These details help separate a vent-cleaning inquiry from a problem that may need an appliance technician. Cleaning the vent is not a promise to repair heating, controls or other dryer faults. If the appliance seems unsafe, stop using it and arrange appropriate professional service rather than running test loads.
Show the accessible parts of the route
Take an overview of the laundry area and, if safely visible from the ground, the outdoor outlet. Mention a long route, an upstairs laundry room or an outlet you cannot reach. A photo from a safe position is more useful than climbing to get a close-up.
The Fire Administration’s checklist includes checking that the outdoor vent covering opens during operation. Do not run a suspect dryer just to make a video for us; tell us what you have already observed.
For a condo, ask who manages the exhaust
Check with management before arranging access. Ask whether your unit has its own exhaust route or connects to a system the building manages. A private appointment should not assume permission to work on shared equipment.
Send any vendor requirements, work-hour limits and loading or elevator rules. If management has an earlier inspection or cleaning record, include the relevant information instead of guessing where the duct goes.
Make the requested work clear
Tell Inter Cleaning Miami that the request is for a clothes dryer exhaust. An air-conditioning duct job covers a different system. Ask which sections can be inspected or cleaned, what access is required and which appliance concerns fall outside the visit.
The aim is to arrange the right next step with enough information to discuss scope and price. It is not to choose a cleaning package from one symptom.
- Dryer make/model and what changed.
- Laundry-area and safely accessible outlet photos.
- House or condo, vent access and management responsibility.
- Any fault message, prior work or inspection findings.
